Handbooks, Manuals & Operational Guidelines

COMNAP publishes or supports the production and distribution of a number of manuals and handbooks that provide National Antarctic Programs and others with guidance in specialist fields of activity. Some of these publications may be produced by, or in conjunction with, other Antarctic or International organisations.

A number of guidelines are developed by COMNAP's Expert Groups and Networks with the aim of assisting National Programs implementing common procedures and practices to enhance operational effectiveness and safety. Whenever appropriate, these guidelines are forwarded to the Antarctic Treaty bodies, which may endorse them and officially recommend that all nations signatories to the Antarctic Treaty follow these guidelines.
